Water Rivers and sleeping mountain |

You
organize your trip to Keflavík / Reykjavík,
in the evening we offer transfer to the farm Herríðarhóli.
|
| Mon:
|
After
a relaxed breakfast we try out horses in the oval ring and
find the right one for everybody. After lunch we start our
riding trip through the mountains of Kambur. We enter a
special landscape straight away: past elf hills and over
the heath along the river Þjórsá to
the farm Akbraut.
|
| Tue:
|
On
our second riding day we cross a river arm to the uninhabited
island Árnes passing two beautiful waterfalls. Then
we ride through several more river arms and on riding paths
past wildflowers and stone fields all the way to the farm
Skarði.

|
Today
we ride north towards the highlands with great view onto
the mountains, into a orest area, over lava fields, past
the at the moment sleeping volcanic mountain Hekla
and to the Trollkonahlaup, where once trolls jumped over
the river.

| Thu:
|
A
day off for the horses! We drive east and visit the waterfalls
Seljalandsfoss
and Skogafoss
(62m). At Skogar we can admire a fantastic museum with antique
utensils of every day farm life and old reconstructed houses
of bygone days. On we go following the glacial river all
the way to the tip of the glacier. To top it off we then
visit the bird cliffs of Dyrhólaey,
where hundreds of birds can be seen on the cliffs and rocks
right at the sea's edge.

Well rested we ride again in southerly direction following
the river Rangá. At the old sheep pen Réttarnes,
which was used in the old days when herding sheep down from
Landmannalaugar,
we stop for our lunch break. On we ride on perfect tölting
tracks with panoramic views, across a river ford to where
the horses spend the night. |

This
is the last day of our riding tour. Over hilly paths, past
middle-of-nowhere farms and over a beautiful heath with great
views we return to the farm. |
| Sun:
|
A
farewell ride around the lake Herruvatn, then we will relax
and have a grill party. In the afternoon we will drive to
Reykjavík
and to the shopping mall Kringlan
and "The perl" with its great views over Reykjavik.On
our way to the airport you will have the possibility to visit
the famous Blue Lagoon
and to have relaxing bath. In the evening we say good-bye
at the airport or in Reykjavík. |
